Below is our final score of the Lull mattress based on multiple criteria that we use when testing all of our mattresses.
What’s It Made From…
Like many of the factory direct mattresses offered today, the Lull mattress is constructed only of foam. There are three separate layers of high-quality foam, including gel infused memory foam, support foam and dense support foam, which, when combined, make for a mattress that is a total of 10 inches thick.
The Top Layer
On the top of the Lull mattress is 1.5 inches of gel-infused memory foam. It is thanks to this layer that this mattress provides such incredible cooling power and comfort. The memory foam cradles the body and helps to provide pressure point relief. The gel infusion of this layer helps to keep the mattress cool, absorbing heat and keeping the mattress an even temperature while you’re sleeping.
The Middle Layer
In the middle of the mattress is a layer of 1.5 inches of conventional foam. This is considered the transitional layer of the mattress. It helps to support the body, distributing weight and providing proper spinal alignment. The middle layer of foam works in conjunction with the top layer, offering great support for sleepers of all sizes.
The Bottom Layer
Acting at the foundation of the Lull mattress is 7 inches of support foam. This layer of the mattress is strong and stable, providing the additional support for the middle and top layers, and further supporting the body.
The cover isn’t technically considered a layer, but we think that it is important to discuss, as it secures all of the layers of the mattress, and provides additional comfort. The cover of the Lull mattress is made of a blend of polyester and rayon, which gives it a soft feel and increases the breathability of the mattress, thereby aiding in keeping it cool.
Though the cover is considerably lightweight, it does not slack in durability. The cover is extremely elastic, which means that it bounces back to its original position quickly and with ease. We also liked that the cover can be easily removed for quick spot cleaning. Lastly, the cover has a two tone color design, with a white top and gray side panels that are separated by a navy blue piece of fabric, which give the Lull mattress a clean, modern look that is very appealing.
Hands On Review
This is one of the most important sections of our buyer’s guide. Because you cannot try the mattress out before you buy it, we wanted to make sure that consumers who are considering purchasing the Lull mattress have a firm understanding of the type of sleep it will provide. In order to do that, we examined some important criterion that impacts the overall quality of the mattress, which impacts the sleep that it provides. This criterion includes the following:
On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest, the Lull mattress rates a 6.5. In other words, the mattress is medium to slightly firm. With this firmness rating, the Lull mattress is designed to appeal to all types of sleepers, no matter their weight, or the position that they sleep in.
The Lull mattress is extremely comfortable. The foam layers cradle the body, which makes it extremely comfortable. When you first lie on the mattress, your body will be cradled by the top layer of gel infused memory foam, yet the middle and foundation layers will provide the support that your body needs. We were also very impressed by the minimal amount of motion transfer, which greatly impacts the comfort level. The top two layers of foam absorb the majority of motion that is experienced throughout the night, which means that if you share the bed with someone, you won’t be disrupted by any movement from your sleeping partner.
Pain Relief and Support
The Lull mattress helps to provide great pressure point relief, thanks to the top layer of gel infused memory foam. This layer of the mattress properly aligns the spine, thereby reducing any pressure that would normally be placed on the spine while sleeping. As a result, pressure will not build up and you will wake up noticing a marked difference in pain.
Because the Lull mattress lies slightly higher than the middle of the firmness scale, it isn’t too firm, so it won’t build up pressure, yet it isn’t too soft, so it offers the support that your body needs while sleeping.
Heat retention is often a problem that is experienced with foam mattresses, as the foam tends to trap in body heat, thereby increasing the temperature of the mattress, which can make for an uncomfortable sleeping experience. The makers of the Lull mattress attended to this issue. They infused the top layer of memory foam with a cooling gel, which helps to absorb body heat and keep the mattress an even temperature while sleeping. The minimal heat retention further adds to the comfort that the Lull mattress provides.
Off gassing is another common issue associated with mattresses that are made of foam. Chemicals are used during the manufacturing process of the foam, and those chemicals can have a strong odor. As a result, foam mattresses often have a smell, especially when they are purchased.
In regard to the Lull mattress, we did notice that there was some odor when we first unboxed it and set it up; however, we left it in a well-ventilated area for a few hours, and the smell was completely gone. While the level of off-gassing may be higher with the Lull mattress than it is with other mattresses, we don’t think that it should deter buyers, as the odor does quickly go away.
We give the Lull mattress a high score for intimacy. As compared to other foam mattresses, which are often unresponsive to intimate activities, as they aren’t great at bouncing back, which often means more effort needs to be exercised when engaging in intimacy. Because the Lull mattress has a slightly firmer feel than many other all foam mattresses, it offers a reasonable level of bounce, which not only improves intimacy activities, but it helps to improve the overall comfort of the mattress.
Sleeping Position Ratings
Not everyone sleeps in the same position, and different sleep positions can impact the overall comfort that a mattress provides. For this reason, we wanted to assess the level of comfort and support that the Lull mattress provides in all sleep positions, as a different level of support is needed for back, stomach and side sleepers.
Back sleepers will really enjoy the level of comfort and support that the Lull mattress provides. As we have already mentioned, this mattress is slightly above average in regard to firmness, especially when compared to other types of foam mattresses. This means that it offers proper support for the spine, relieving the buildup of pressure, thereby improving the overall support and comfort that it provides when sleeping on the back.
Back Sleeping score: 9/10
Sleeping on the stomach can be a challenge with foam mattresses. Often, foam mattresses are too soft, which can make stomach sleepers feel as if they are sinking too far into the mattress, making them feel like they are being engulfed by the foam. This is not an issue with the Lull mattress. The firmness level is ideal for stomach sleepers. It hugs the body just right, yet does not make you feel like you are sinking too far into the mattress. It also supports the spine while sleeping on the mattress, reducing pain, and further enhancing the overall comfort and the quality of sleep you will experience on the Lull mattress.
Stomach Sleeping score: 8.75/10
We were also impressed with the comfort and support the Lull mattress provides for side sleepers. This mattress has excellent edge support; there is a minimal amount of sinkage at the edges, something that can often be a problem for side sleepers, as they tend to hug the edge of a mattress. Sleeping on your side, you will notice that the Lull mattress contours to the body, creating a hugging feeling; yet, it still offers support for the body and keeps the spine in proper alignment, thereby improving the overall quality of sleep you will get if you sleep on your side.
Side Sleeping score: 9/10
Bed Frame Compatibility
What really sets the Lull mattress apart from similar mattresses is the fact that it is compatible with all types of bed frames. While other mattresses tend to require a slatted foundation, with slats that are no more than three inches apart and are constructed of durable wood, the Lull mattress can be used with all types of foundations.
Whether you use it on a slatted foundation, a platform or a floor, a box spring or an adjustable bed, you will experience the same level of support and comfort with the Lull mattress. We were really impressed by this, as you aren’t limited by the foundations you can use, which makes it incredibly versatile.
Warranty, Guarantee and Trial Period
- Warranty: 10 years
- Guarantee: Full money back guarantee. Should you experience any issues that were a result of a manufacturing deficiency, or there are any other issues that are not associated with improper usage, you will receive a full refund, with no questions asked.

The Lull mattress is engineered to offer exceptional comfort and support, as well as exceptional cooling capabilities. In fact, this mattress is designed to offer less heat retention than pretty much any other type of foam mattress we have tried. The Lull mattress properly aligns the spine, provides pressure point relief and provides a comfortable sleeping experience, overall.
