What’s It Made From…
The Nectar mattress is an all foam mattress that contains four layers of high-quality foam, including quilted gel memory foam, cooling gel memory foam, adaptive hi core memory foam, and high-density support foam.
The Top Layer
The top layer of the Nectar mattress is made of 1 inch of quilted gel memory foam. This layer really sets the Nectar mattress apart from other mattresses on the market, as most other companies don’t quilt their gel memory foam. This layer provides comfort for the mattress and helps to keep it cool. The gel pulls heat away from the sleeper, thereby preventing the mattress from heating up (a problem that is often associated with memory foam.) The memory foam envelops the body and provides pressure point relief.
The top layer of the mattress has a density of 4 pounds per cubic feet.
The Second Layer
The next layer of the Nectar mattress is 1 inch of gel memory foam. This layer offers support, as well as additional cooling and comfort. The gel absorbs heat and prevents it from building up around the sleeper. Because Nectar uses a semi-open cell technology in this layer, it also allows for excellent air circulation.
The gel memory foam also evenly distributes weight throughout the mattress, providing pressure point relief.
The Third Layer
This layer is made of 3 inches of Hi Core memory foam, which is unique to the Nectar mattress. Hi-Core memory foam helps to prevent sinkage, which means you won’t feel like you are trapped in the mattress. Additionally, it provides further contouring for the body, aiding in comfort and support.
The Base Layer
At the base of the Nectar mattress is a 6-inch layer of high-density support foam. This layer acts as the foundation for the upper layers, and also helps to provide even more pressure point relief. The base layer is also very breathable, which helps to circulate air through the mattress, pulling heat away from the body to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night.
The Cover
The Nectar mattress is enveloped in a cover that is made of a blend of Tencel and cotton. These materials make the cover soft to the touch and very breathable, further adding to the cooling properties that it provides. The cover also contains resistive elements, which helps to prevent infestation of pests, such as bedbugs.
Aesthetically speaking, the cover is white along the top and gray around the sides. Bright blue stitching separates the top and sides and adds a nice pop of color.

Hands on Review
Though purchasing the Nectar mattress online certainly simplifies the process of shopping and buying, and also reduces the cost, it does pose an issue: You can’t try it before you buy it. This means that it can be difficult to determine whether or not it will actually meet your needs.
Our goal in creating this buyer’s guide is to provide you with as much information as possible regarding the overall quality of the mattress. In this section of our guide, we highlight key criteria that impact the quality of the mattress, and thereby affect the quality of sleep you will experience. Here, we assess the following:
Firmness
On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest, we give the Nectar mattress a score of 6.5 to 7. The majority of sleepers tend to enjoy a firmness level that falls between 5 and 7, so the Nectar mattress should meet the needs of most sleepers; however, if you are looking for a softer mattress, you might do better with one that has a lower firmness score.
Comfort
We found that the Nectar mattress does deliver a great amount of comfort. The cover, the first part of the mattress that you feel, is extremely soft. When you lie on it, you will instantly notice the effects of the memory foam at the top layers, which will start to contour to your body almost immediately. The lower levels of denser foam provide great support, which further adds to the comfort that this mattress delivers.
Motion transfer is another element that the Nectar mattress excels at. We noticed very little, if any, movement in the mattress, which is particularly appealing if you share the bed with someone else. Feeling movement can reduce the comfort of a mattress, but with the Nectar mattress, this is an issue that you will not have to deal with.
Pain Relief and Support
We were also impressed by the support that the Nectar mattress delivered. Though it does take a few seconds for the foam to contour to your body, when it does, provides even support and provides great pressure point relief. We do want to point out that because of the slower response time of the foam, some sleepers may feel like they are ‘stuck’ in the mattress, or that their body is being ‘hugged’ too much.
Heat Retention
Foam mattresses tend to warm up, as body heat gets trapped inside the foam. With the Nectar mattress, there is very little heat retention. The gel memory foam absorbs body heat, pulling it away from the sleeper and allowing the mattress to remain a consistent temperature. The Tencel and cotton blend of the cover is extremely breathable, which further aids in the reduced level of heat retention.
Off Gassing
One area that we were not particularly pleased with was the level of off-gassing. Off-gassing refers to the odor that a new mattress emits, which is a problem that often occurs with mattresses that are made of foam. There are certain chemicals that are used during the manufacturing process of the foam, and those chemicals can have a powerful odor.
When we unpackaged the Nectar mattress, we did notice that there was a pretty strong odor. We opened the mattress in a well-ventilated area and after about 2 days, the odor did dissipate. Other mattresses we have tested did not have any level of off-gassing, so we were slightly disappointed by the Nectar mattress in this department.
Intimacy
As far as intimacy goes, this can be an issue for foam mattresses. Foam tends to absorb a lot of motion, which is great for comfort; however, it can make intimacy activities a bit difficult. The Nectar mattress did have a limited amount of bounce back, which means that you will have to exert more energy when you are trying to engage in intimate activities.

Sleeping Position Ratings
We also examined the sleep position ratings for the Nectar mattress, including:
- The back
- The stomach
- The side
Here’s what we found…
Back
Back sleepers tend to enjoy a mattress that offers a medium firmness level. If the mattress is too soft, they can feel trapped in it, but if it is too firm, it can lead to pressure buildup, which can cause pain.
Nectar is a moderately firm mattress. It provides the right level of support and comfort for the back, as it evenly distributes weight throughout the layers. The quilted memory foam adds softness to the mattress, which provides pressure point relief.
Back Sleeping score: 9.5/10
Stomach
Stomach sleepers may find that the Nectar mattress is a little bit too firm. The layers of memory foam do provide softness; however, the higher level of firmness may be a bit too much for stomach sleepers, as they may experience pressure buildup in their backs.
Stomach Sleeping score: 9.5/10
Side
Side sleepers may also find that the Nectar mattress is too firm. There is a moderate level of sinkage, which can help to enhance comfort and support; however, because of the higher degree of firmness, some side sleepers may experience pressure buildup in certain parts of their body.
Side Sleeping score: 9.5/10
Bed Frame Compatibility
The Nectar mattress is designed to be used with a variety of bed frames, including slatted frames, box springs, and platform frames. Because the mattress can be used with various types of frames, it really does make it versatile, as you are not limited by the type of frame that you can use with it.
Warranty, Guarantee and Trial Period
- Warranty: Lifetime limited warranty, which is above the industry average. If there are any manufacturer defects within the first five years, you will receive a full replacement, free of charge. If there are defects experienced after the first five years, the mattress will be replaced, but there is a $100 transportation fee.
- Guarantee: Full money back guarantee
- Trial Period: 365 nights, which is much longer than the industry average of 100 nights. If you are not happy with the Nectar mattress within that time period, contact the manufacturer and they will fully refund your money.

What Other Reviewers Have to Say
Overall, I found the Nectar mattress to be highly supportive with its two base layers. It also offers a high degree of comfort through the use of its contouring memory foam. If you struggle with painful pressure points or have a sleep partner, I think Nectar is worth serious consideration. – Jessica Jones, TheSleepJudge
Conclusion
We think that the Nectar mattress is very well rounded. It offers a balanced level of comfort and support that is better than the average memory foam mattress. Motion transfer is exceptional, as is pressure relief and support. The foam layers are not as responsive as some similar mattress, but we don’t think that this impacts the overall quality of the mattress.

Hi Will,
I am a side sleeper (sometimes stomach) and am looking at Nectar among others. My girlfriend has a very mass marker Serra Perfect Sleeper Courtland model and I love it. It’s a bit plush and soft yet still firm. I tried the Casper (at a west elm store) and I felt it was a tad too firm for me. Give that, would the Nectar also be too firm for me?
If so, what brands would you suggest?
Hi James
I am similar to you, in that I primarily sleep on my stomach, I found the Nectar to be a fantastic all-around mattress, it was good for me on my stomach and I weigh 180lbs and I am 6ft tall.
I would say the Nectar isn’t the plushest of them all, it doesn’t have a pillow top so you don’t get that instant soft feeling and it is a little firmer than some mattresses so you won’t get that initial compression. However, it does a fantastic job of molding around the body once you are lied down and settled.
I’d say the Nectar might be a little firm for you, it is made of a denser foam than Casper which is also why it comes with a 365-day guarantee because they use high-density foam which will not deteriorate as quickly as some of their competitors.
To be perfectly honest you have nothing to lose in testing the Nectar except for time, however, if you really feel like it might not be the one for you then I’d recommend the Loom & Leaf line of mattresses as they have a relaxed firm option which might be more suitable for you.
You can check out Loom & Leaf here.
Thanks again James.
