What’s It Made From…

The Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress is made up of four separate layers of the highest quality materials, including memory foam, comfort foam, air flow high-density support foam and airflow high-density base support foam. All materials are infused with natural green tea extract, which has been scientifically proven to provide antifungal and anti-oxide properties that clean the air around the mattress. Thanks to this green tea extract infusion, your mattress will stay fresher and healthier for a longer period of time. Additionally, all materials are CertiPUR-US certified, which means that no harmful chemicals are used in their production, and they have a low VOC level.

The First Layer

The top of this mattress is made of 3 inches of memory foam. This is the layer of the mattress that conforms to the body, contouring to it and creating a hugging feeling. The memory foam is not only soft and cushy, but it helps to minimize motion transfer, which adds to the overall comfort of the mattress.

The Second Layer

The second layer of the Memory Foam Green Tea mattress from Zinus is made of 2 inches of comfort foam. This layer further enhances the comfort of the mattress, as it is highly responsive and distributes weight throughout, thereby providing pressure point relief.

Again, the air flow technology aids in keeping the mattress cool, as it pulls heat away from the body and disperses it out of the mattress, further regulating the temperature. It also offers point elasticity and helps to keep the body in proper alignment, thereby reducing aches and pains.

The Cover

All four layers of the mattress are wrapped in a cover that is constructed of knitted jacquard. The cover adds additional softness to the mattress. It is also highly breathable, further minimizing heat retention and helping to keep the mattress cool and comfortable throughout the night.

The cover is one continuous piece of material that wraps the entire mattress. It is white in color and has small detailed imprinted into it. It’s basic in design, which gives it a minimalist, yet modern look.

There are certainly advantages to buying a mattress that ships directly from the manufacturer. For one thing, the overhead costs are lower, which usually makes the overall price of the mattress significantly lower. Additionally, you don’t have to deal with the stress and pressure of salespeople. On the downside, you don’t have the opportunity to test the mattress out first, which is why we created this buyer’s guide.

In this section of our guide, we share our findings of some of the most pertinent criteria to impact the overall quality of the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea 12 inch mattress. The criteria we assessed includes:

Firmness

Firmness really is a matter of opinion; however, if we were to rate the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress on a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest, we would give it a 6. We found it to be middle of the road, as far as firmness goes. The average sleeper will find the firmness to be just right; however, lighter sleepers may find that it is too firm, while heavier sleepers may think that it is too soft.

Comfort

We were very impressed by the overall comfort that this mattress provides. We think that it did a fantastic job of conforming to the body and creating a hugging effect, yet it didn’t conform too much to make us feel like we were being engulfed by it. The memory foam immediately started to conform to the body and was highly responsive, and the lower layers of the mattress provided great support and bounce; in fact, much more bounce than you would expect from a foam mattress.

Motion transfer was not an issue at all in the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress. In fact, we did not notice any motion at all when moving about the bed, or when having heavy objects dropped onto it. We think that the minimal motion transfer really adds to the overall comfort that the bed provides.

Pain Relief and Support

Again, the mattress excelled in regard to pain relief and support. It really does contour to the body while still offering just enough bounce back to make it easy to move about. Additionally, body weight is evenly distributed throughout the foam layers, and it keeps the spine in proper alignment, which did a fantastic job of reducing pressure point build-up and reducing pain.

Heat Retention

The air flow technology in the bottom two layers of the bed really do work for reducing heat retention. This technology circulates body heat out of the mattress instead of trapping it inside, which is often a problem with foam materials. The jacquard cover is also very breathable, which further reduces any heat retention. Overall, we found that the Memory Foam Green Tea mattress from Zinus stayed extremely cool and comfortable throughout the night, and in any sleep position.

Off Gassing

Off-gassing refers to the odor that a new mattress emits. This is not an uncommon issue with foam mattresses, as often, harsh chemicals are used in the production of the foam, and those chemicals can give off an unappealing odor.

The Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress is not made with any harsh chemicals, which is why we believe that there was absolutely no off gassing. When we removed it from the packaging, we simply had to let it take its shape and could start using it right away, and there wasn’t any odor.

Intimacy

In regard to intimacy, typically, mattresses that offer a good deal of spring are the best option. Since foam absorbs motion, they usually offer a minimal amount of spring. However, the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress does offer just enough spring to give it some bounce. This means that you while you may have to exert a tad more energy than you would on an innerspring mattress when it comes to intimate activities, you won’t have to exert as much as you would on a typical foam mattress.

Back

Most back sleepers will find that this mattress is comfortable, yet supportive. It distributes weight well and prevents pressure point build-up. If you are on the heavier side, though, or if you like a firmer mattress, you may find that it is too soft for sleeping on the back.

Stomach

We think that stomach sleepers will thoroughly enjoy sleeping on this mattress. It keeps the spine in proper alignment, which means that you won’t wake up with a sore back, neck or shoulders. It also creates just the right amount of cushioning to make you feel cradled, but not so excessively cradled that you will feel as if you are being engulfed.

Side

Side sleepers, too, will find this bed comfortable and supportive. Side sleepers tend to need a lot of extra support, as all of their body weight is placed in one concentrated area. Because this bed is designed to keep the spine in proper alignment, and because it provides great pressure point relief, side sleepers will find that their weight is being more supported by the mattress than by their bodies, which will lead to greater comfort and a better sleep.

Warranty, Guarantee and Trial Period

• Warranty: 10-year limited manufacturer warranty. If anything happens to the mattress as a result of a defect in manufacturing within 10 years from the date of purchase, contact the company and they will repair or replace it for you.
• Guarantee: Unlike other mattresses, there really isn’t a guarantee offered with this bed. You may be able to have some of your money refunded; however, you may end up paying charges, or the company will keep some of the money that you spent on it.
• Trial Period: Again, unlike other mattresses, there really isn’t a specified trial period, per say. If you are not happy with it, you can contact the manufacturer within the 30 days of purchase, and you may be able to have some of your money reimbursed.

Conclusion

We were pleasantly surprised with the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress. Overall, it provides great support and comfort. The infusion of green tea extract truly does help to keep the mattress firmer and smelling fresher. It is the ideal firmness for the average sleeper, though some may find it too soft or too hard.

Is this mattress right for me?

If you are looking for a mattress that offers medium firmness, increases pressure point relief and reduces heat retention, then yes, we think that the Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea mattress is a great investment. All of that, coupled with the fact that it is super affordable make this a very appealing mattress to consumers.
